Ok ... so before you start thinking ... what ? $590 for a little old wooden painted cabinet that came out of Grandpa's basement ? I get it, but would like to offer an explanation. I understand if you're still not persuaded and decline to purchase.
Know this.
I have completely designed, constructed / made this cabinet, from parts and pieces of an old homemade drafting table. It had cast iron legs that a local designer just had to have for a kitchen they were doing, so I sold the legs. This cabinet is made from drawers that were attached under the work surface. There was a large center drawer that was badly warped and bowing. I cut that into pieces for the 4 top drawer fronts. The 2 bottom drawers are as they were with some modification. They have been cut in half. In fact, the whole cabinet was cut in half and matched to rest atop the lower drawer set.
Each drawer was disassembled, cleaned, lightly sanded, and hand waxed. FRESH !!
There is some staining and marks, but they are very clean for use.
The bottom 2 drawers are divided as shown. The top 4 drawers are open.
A simple interior 'stick assembly' was created for the top drawers.
The 2 sections were stacked and joined together.
The entire surface of the exterior was lightly sanded and cleaned. Obviously, when old timers made cabinets, they only painted what would be visible ... no sense in wasting paint !!
I did have to do some color matching, and dry brush paint in areas to make it seem as though the cabinet was always the way you see it. Just enough wear and age was left untouched.
I sourced some drawer pulls ... slightly different ... and attached. This seemed true to character. Use what is available. Again, no waste.
The back of the cabinet is made from the large center drawer. It has been cut to size to fit, lightly sanded, and had waxed on both sides.
It's not easy building a cabinet that looks this way. It takes a certain 'eye' and intent.

And Yeah ... I say this is a vintage piece because all the material is vintage, but I did design and make it. I almost consider these cabinets to be works of art ... almost.
