Beautifully crafted old shipping box.
I am not sure exactly what would have been shipped in this, but there are brackets on the inside with cotter pins that may have suspended the item in shipment.
(These can be removed) There are also a small wood block that may have held something, as well as an area on the bottom panel that holds a small metal rod.
Wonderful sliding top. Brass screws on the top and bottom construction.
This was black with dust when I found it. It has been cleaned with wood cleaner, and a beeswax conditioner has applied and buffed.
Beautifully aged and worn.
The interior is fairly clean.
Beautifully joined corners.
There is a minor split on one piece of the top of the sliding lid. Stable and not lifting.
