Nice example of a Simmons metal dresser.
Circa 1940's or so.
Original finish was a faux woodgrain.
Interesting ... but did not reveal the true beauty of this piece.
It has been 'soda blasted' to strip the old finish, sanded, and hand waxed.
This includes all drawer interiors, as well as the cabinet interior.
It is NOT perfect. There are a few dents and dings ... all very minor. A few places where the original manufacturing process stained the metal, and some differences in color between the metal parts. None of which are really noticeable from a few feet away.
The top 2 drawers have locks, but there are not keys for them. There are small cracks in the metal on the drawer edge top around the locks. Barely noticeable.
The mirror supports have beautiful finials. The mirror itself can be angled by use of the side knobs. Mirror is in good condition, but does show some evidence of age.
Legs are straight steel tubing, with wonderful all metal casters. They all work and turn freely, and are original to the piece.
As it is a metal piece of furniture, it does make some noise when used, but remarkably, it is very tolerable...almost quiet.
This would be a stunning addition to any environment.
SIZE __ 30" wide x 18" front to back __ 44 1/2" to the top surface of the dresser.
69" total height to the top of the mirror.
