This is the third down payment towards the purchase of the Vintage Terrestrial Table Globe on Tripod Stand. One final payment (after this one) will be made as agreed upon, at which time the transaction is complete and globe is shipped. Payments made will be refunded, less listing fees, if all payments are not received.
Globes are humbling, as they allow us to spin our Planet Earth on a simple axis, exploring the world and all its wonders from safely inside our own home. This beautiful globe incorporates some history into the endeavor, as it dates to some time between 1914-1924. It also has the most unique stand I've ever seen - bronze colored iron forms a tripod base, with amazing decorative detail, finishing in three paw feet! The weathering of the globe, while significant, serves to add antiquity and history with the beautiful patina.
The globe is 12 inches in diameter, with a total height of 20 inches including the stand. The globe is structurally sound and still spins well on the stand, but it does have quite a bit of staining (water damage?) and some paper pieces missing all around. The worst spots are on the bottom, near the attachment point, where an entire circle of paper and some layers beneath it are missing, and some large lines across the southern U.S. and southern Mexico - see last photo for details.
