This is an absolutely gorgeous antique silk velvet table topper or table mat. It measures approx. 23 1/2 x 23" In addition, there is silk fringe that is approx. 6" long. These were popular in the art nouveau era to use as table toppers or a table mat. People used then to put them under a vase or potted plant. The fabric is so pretty with all the variation in color that comes from the tie dye process. This one is in shades of rust, pumpkin and shades of gold. Some of the fringe is a little sketchy, it is all there, but some of it is a little shorter than it should be. There is also a stain that you can see in photo #3 and there are a couple more slightly lighter than the one shown. Because of the nature of the fabric the spots show much more clearly on the back side. When you look at it you really don't know if it is part of the dying process. These gorgeous pieces are getting rare and hard to find now, they are very collectible, and rightly so!
