This one of a kind handmade pendant features the combination of lapis and sapphire! The lapis in this piece is just gorgeous. It is a bright ultramarine blue with just small specks of pyrite. I just had to be paired with something really special.....so of course.....sapphires!
I created this style of pendant because I wanted to incorporate the bail as part of the design. The top of this pendant is made of one piece of forged sterling silver which is formed and arranged into an attractive design, all the while leaving a space for the chain to pass through. In effect, the pendant is the bail, and the bail is the pendant.
The lapis is a cushion cut (a rectangle with bowed sides) which is one of my favorite shapes to design with. I set the stone in a silver bezel, which is fully backed. The sterling silver "fancy bail" has been adorned with three, genuine blue sapphire cabochons. The bezel set sapphires are set open backed for ease of cleaning. The back features a spiral motif.....just for fun!
This pendant is handmade of solid sterling silver. It is completely hand constructed.
This pendant measures 3/4" across, and 1 1/2" long.
